It's In the Details

I love the mountains! Everything about them resonates with me. I appreciate having a job that takes me to the mountains on occasion. Mountains provide perspective, not only from an elevated viewpoint, but through time too.
Time. Is there enough of it? Sure seems to march along. Maybe not quick enough sometimes. Sometimes we wish it would move quicker. Other times we hope it would stop, just long enough for us to take in a moment or a feeling. And, yet, it continues, as quickly as it does, or how quickly we say it does, altogether forward nonetheless. Seasons come and go, night falls and the sun rises. Sometimes it feels like it can all be moving without you, like you are watching it all fly on by as you remain stuck, waiting for something to change.
Change. Is it good? Is it bad? It just is, isn't it? What makes us think it is for or against us?
Perspective. What is real? From whose perspective? Sure feels real to each of us. But is it true?
Truth. Now that's a tough one. Wars have been fought on what is true or not. Civilizations have risen and fallen on claims of truth, albeit they were often lies like wolves in sheep's' clothing. Or partial truths were woven into the fabric of society while the more unpleasant bits were left out to "spare" the populous. What do you believe to be true? Why?
Belief. What a beautiful word? Don't you agree? Or is it naive? Words can be powerful. Words can invoke feeling within us. Words can spark Hope, can lead to Trust, and encourage Love. Words can tear down, destroy, and discourage. What power do we yield in our words?
I often wonder, and wander in my thoughts. Our lives have been built on interesting ideals, beliefs, and suppositions. Experience is one hell of a teacher too.
I am reminded to look closely, zoom in a little more. What lays hidden in plain sight? Maybe I've been looking at the big picture a little too much lately? What's been right in front of me this whole time?
Enjoy some photos from this past month of the central mountains of Idaho! Take care out there.
