Night Drives and Sunset Skies

The hills of Idaho offer perfect vistas to view the stunning sunsets of the mountain west. Recent fires have led to an abundance of smoke in the lower atmosphere further enhancing the beauty of the setting sun. Gratefully rain has fallen since, and further rain is in the forecast. I love to take an hour or two and drive up to the hills behind Rexburg, or down to Cress Creek, to catch the last light of day bathing the landscape in yellows, oranges, reds, pinks, and purples. the contrast of colored skies and silhouetted trees and mountains makes for incredible pictures and a peaceful evening.

Deer are abundant in the Snake River Valley which can make these night drives somewhat treacherous if you aren't paying attention. However, if you are quiet, these elegant creatures make wonderful models in enchanting photos! I'm still working on getting them to cooperate with me haha, they are pretty skittish and camera shy, but I'll keep working on it!
