A new addition to our family has arrived! Our sweet baby girl is here! Little Carter is blessing and enriching our lives in ways we could have never imagined. Delivery of our little care package was, however, hard on Kaylee. Multiple hospital visits, these last few weeks, have taken a toll on our little family. Gratefully my mom was able to make the trip out to help us, and the hospital and doctors have gotten Kaylee back on her feet. We have been itching to get out and breathe some fresh mountain air. What better way to do that than a visit to our national parks!
It's wildflower season!! Kaylee and I have been talking about this time of year since last year. When the hillsides are painted yellow, purple, red, and white, and the world around us is green and full of growth. There is a palpable energy in the air, and you can literally smell summer! After a laborious winter with limited mobility for Kaylee, it has been wonderful to once again spend quality time out and about rather than cooped up at home.
First, we visited our engagement spot in Yellowstone. How time has already flown! Then we headed south to the Tetons to catch golden hour at Jackson Lake. Along the way we saw many elk, some bison, an antelope, many types of birds, and fields upon fields of wildflowers! A quaint little sailboat accented the Teton peaks as we sat overlooking Jackson Lake. A few elk stood at attention in a field backdropped by the glowing Tetons near Oxbow bend. Little Carter cooed and slept in the backseat as we drove and rejuvenated in the beauty surrounding us. It was heavenly.
Now looking ahead, summer is upon us! No, we won't be able to tackle all our wishes nor can we move at the same pace as before our little girl joined us. Instead, in this new chapter of life, we can look for and appreciate the little things, the precious moments, we can relearn the beautiful sights, smells, sounds, and feelings that our little Carter is experiencing for the first time. We are grateful for this new chapter, for health and safety. There is beauty in the world still. It can be hard to focus on with so much swirling around us, but it is there, often quietly existing, not demanding attention like so many other things do in our life. Sometimes, we just need to look up and see it!
Here are some of our favorite photos, enjoy!!
